Raise your hand if you can’t leave the house without filling in your eyebrow first! Yes, brow currently becomes the most important thing in women’s life, including mine. I can leave the house without wearing lipstick, but not with eyebrow. I have to admit that my holy grail eyebrow product is Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil and NYX Microbrow pencil. But, those two products are quite expensive, especially the Benefit one. NYX, even though considered as drugstore product, the price is a bit high. So, I tried to find a good alternative, and then I came across this LA Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil which costs only IDR 65.000. Is it as good? Just read my review..
I have to be honest that the packaging is pretty similar with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. It is a slim style brow pencil with retractable super skinny tip and spoolie at the opposite end. I love this type of eyebrow pencil because I don’t have to sharpen it and I also don’t have to use another tools to brush my brow. The spoolie works perfectly. It is stiff yet not harsh. It is small enough to get to the tail of eyebrow.
I bought LA Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil in online store called Belanja Mimo. It costs IDR 65.000. It is affordable compared to ABH Brow Wiz and Benefit Precisely, My Brow. But LA Girl runs out faster that Benefit, in my case. The LA Girl contains only 0.003 oz (0.08 gr) of products, similar to ABH and Benefit. But, because the LA Girl one is creamier than Benefit, it runs out faster. I use it everyday, and it lasts only a month.
LA Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil offers 10 different shades that cater the fair skin to deepest skin. The 10 shades are blonde, taupe, soft brown, auburn, warm brown, medium brown, brunette, espresso, blackest brown, and black. I purchased this online so I didn’t get to swatch. Because I don’t have any redness in my brow and hair, I chose blackest brown. It is in my opinion cool toned black. It suits my eyebrow color really well.
Candelilla Wax (Candelilla Cera), Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Lanolin, Castor Oil, Ceresin, Hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Squalane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Petrolatum, Microcrystalline Wax (Cera Microcristallina), BHT, Propylparaben. May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140).
The texture is creamy and pigmented. I don’t have to tug the pencil to make it work. Because of that, the pencil runs out fast. Another thing I don’t like about this eyebrow pencil is that it sometimes skipped and make patchy line. I like to frame my eyebrow with it, but I don’t like it to fill in.
It lasts all day long. Even if you splash your face with water, the eyebrow will not come off, except if you rub it off. I use eyebrow product everyday for more than 10 hours, and this eyebrow pencil is among the toughest. It also does not smudge easily after it sets. However, some spots may get a little bit patchy.
Some people said that it is a close dupe to Benefit Precisely My Brow and ABH Brow Wiz. Since I don’t have the ABH one, I will only compare it to Benefit. In my opinion, Benefit one is more waxy than LA Girl. Thus, it can hold up my hair even though I don’t use brow wax or brow gel. LA Girl is far creamier so that it runs out easily. In term of color, the shade No 6 from Benefit is very close to LA Girl Blackest Brown. Benefit is a hair more grey, making it look more natural in my brow. The pencil itself is also skinnier on Benefit side. The spoolie of the Benefit is also firmer.
It is my third favorites of eyebrow products, after Benefit Precisely My Brow and NYX Microbrow pencil. I love it because it has small tip and great spoolie. But, the downside is that it runs out very fast. If I use it everyday, I have to purchase it every 3 weeks. So, in conclusion, I rate this 4.5 out of 5.
